The Birthday That Keeps On Giving!

My youngest son Luke turned 5 in August. On his actual Birthday we celebrated at home with our immediate family. In total he has now celebrated four times including his real birthday, Nannie and Poppies visit, school and this weekend. It is the Birthday that keeps on giving.
The night before as the boys slept we hung streamers from the boys doorway (they share a room) and littered the floor with green balloons.
He was just thrilled with his new shield and sword!
All summer he had wanted to make a rainbow cake and I couldn't think of a better day to do it. What colors did he choose? Lightsaber colors of course!
Many of our family were unable to make a party in August so Saturday we celebrated. The theme was Lego/Star Wars.
My hubby made the nice Lego creation in the center. He is the biggest kid of them all.
My favorite detail were the chip bowls made out of Lego's. Luke was very proud of his creation with the green door. It opens up to reveal a Lego bowl filled with gummy treats.
We made lightsabers out of pool noodles to play keep up the balloon with. We never did get to the game (too many of the balloons had popped) but the kids still had fun with them.
We hid 5 asteroids per child in the yard for them to find. Inside the asteroids were starburst candies.
Every child received a Lego car kit to build. I think this was the quietest time of the whole birthday party! I lucked out at Toys R Us because all Lego's were buy one get one 1/2 off.
I found these Captain Rex marshmallow pops at our local grocery store(Luke's favorite character). Each child was supposed to take one home but I forgot as they were hidden away for a surprise. Boy was I surprised when I realized I had forgotten! We will be seeing them all again in October for my nephew's Birthday and they will receive them then.

The weather was a little chilly Saturday but it did not seem to bother the kids a bit. A good time was had by all.

Happy Monday!
Jen

  1. I love the Lego theme, especially how you used them for your chip bowels, etc. Great idea and well executed plan!!
